Laurel Short, DNP, FNP-C

Dr. Laurel Short, DNP, FNP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Roeland Park, Kansas location. She earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Luther College and a master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas. She completed her Doctor of Nursing degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City with an emphasis on self-management for chronic migraine. Prior to joining Sunflower Medical Group, Laurel worked in the area of physical medicine and rehabilitation for ten years, and she enjoys blending this experience with primary care.

Outside of the office, you will find her training for triathlon and running events, reading, and chasing after her two young children.

Christopher Hemmer, DNP, ANP, ONP-C, FAANP, FNAON

Dr. Hemmer comes to AANP from Missouri. He has worked in musculoskeletal care for over 25 years with an emphasis in adult spine. He is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner as well as orthopedic nurse practitioner. He is a member of National Association of Orthopedic Nurses (NAON) as well as a fellow with NAON. Chris is also a Fellow of AANP and has presented internationally and nationally on similar topics in his area of expertise. He is a tenured assistant professor at Saint Louis University where he taches the MSN and DNP students.
