    Overview
Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs) play a vital role in providing prompt, safe, and skilled care in rural, agricultural, and frontier communities where access to healthcare is often limited. Community ENPs and ENPs working in transport roles and at receiving hospitals must understand mechanisms for injuries and illnesses associated with environmental, occupational, and recreational activities common to rural, agricultural, and frontier communities to anticipate and guide specialized assessment and care delivery. Agricultural and farm-related accidents, recreational and environmental injuries, and industry-related exposures and injuries require expert knowledge and skills to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. By anticipating and comprehending the intricacies of these injuries and illnesses, NPs can enhance their diagnostic capabilities and medical decision skills to improve patient outcomes.

    Objectives
    • Anticipate common injuries associated with rural, agricultural, and frontier settings and be able to formulate key questions to ask patients related to mechanism of injury for two injuries discussed.
    • Explore illnesses and injuries that may arise from rural, agricultural, and frontier settings, and be able to distinguish challenges that may be encountered when caring for patients from these settings.
    • Distinguish the importance of nurse practitioners to improving healthcare policy and advocacy for people living in rural, agricultural, and frontier settings.
