Overview As a nurse practitioner, patients presenting with dermatological conditions will be a common occurrence that you will need to be prepared to diagnose, monitor, and treat. This case-based continuing education module is geared toward the NP student or career starter, but is also a beneficial refresher for the seasoned NP in practice. This activity features Dr. Margaret Fitzgerald, a Family Nurse Practitioner with vast expertise in NP certification preparation and continuing education. In this presentation, Dr. Fitzgerald will provide evidence based education for management of atopic dermatitis in the adult patient. Utilizing a case-based approach, allow Dr. Fitzgerald to introduce Louis, a 32 year old patient of African and European ancestry that presents with an itchy rash on his arm.
Compare the different types of contact dermatitis.
Review counseling points for patients with suspected contact dermatitis.
Discuss the treatment options for allergic contact dermatitis caused by plant contact.
