Overview
The prevalence of anemia in CKD is more than twice the rate among patients with CKD than in the general population. These case studies are designed to help NPs manage anemia of CKD which effects over 53% of patients by stage 5. Utilizing the most current guidelines with awareness of new treatment options available, NPs will be equipped to help patients suffering from complications of this disease in collaboration with the nephrology specialist team using a patient-centered, individualized approach.
Objectives - Discuss the pathophysiology and management of anemia of CKD.
- Illustrate the economic, health, and social burden of anemia of CKD among patients and caregivers.
- Dissect healthcare disparities that exist in the management of anemia of CKD.
- Evaluate the new science surrounding the pathogenesis of anemia of CKD and implications for disease management.
- Justify the rationale behind current standard-of-care recommendations for the management of anemia of CKD.
