Overview The beginning of a new school year is the perfect time to update children’s and adolescents’ vaccines. Regardless of individual state requirements for school attendance all children and adolescents should be vaccinated according to the 2023 guidelines set forth by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP). This course will review current recommendations for school attendance based on the 2023 vaccine schedule. Recently published CDC job aids to simply Covid vaccinations will also be reviewed. The effects of the antivaccine movement on vaccine preventable diseases will also be discussed along with strategies to counter these effects on parents and families. Easy to use electronic resources to keep up with current vaccine best practices as well as tools for debunking vaccination misinformation will also be provided.
Analyze the changes in immunization recommendations for 2023.
Appraise the most recent recommendations for COVID-19 vaccine.
Analyze vaccine hesitancy and address it.
Identify resources to keep current with immunization best practices.
