Overview Description of the etiology, natural history, and treatment strategies for peripheral arterial disease. Sequalae of PAD including wounds, dependent rubor and rest pain will also be described with associated appropriate treatments. Objectives
Review pathophysiology of atherosclerosis with resultant signs/symptoms.
Evaluate need for medical vs surgical intervention based on patient exam and history findings.
Summarize current literature on medical treatment and surgical intervention for PAD.
Differentiate between types of vascular wounds.

Jillian Negri has been a Vascular Surgery NP for the last 13 years. She started her career as a Cardiac Intensive Care Nurse in 2004. She earned her Master's in Nursing in 2009 and started as a hospitalist. She was offered a position in Vascular Surgery in 2011 and has loved it ever since! She eventually finished her DNP in 2017 at UNMC where she continues to be an adjunct faculty member. Jillian is the immediate past president of Nebraska Nurse Practitioners as well. She also has 3 sons and is finishing her last year as a Cub Scout leader....because she wasn't busy enough. :)
