Overview The management of an adult patient with ischemic cardiogenic shock requires thoughtful approach to patient assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment. The purpose of this learning activity is to provide nurse practitioners in emergency department, acute, and critical care settings with an evidence-based approach to clinical decision-making, pharmaceutical, and non-pharmaceutical management of adult patients with suspected and confirmed ischemic cardiogenic shock.
Review the anatomical and physiological changes that occur in adult populations with acute ischemic cardiogenic shock.
Identify the diagnostic approach to an adult patient with suspected ischemic cardiogenic shock.
Analyze the current evidence-based literature and guidelines supporting management modalities.
