Overview This 60-minute lecture provides an in-depth exploration of autoimmune diseases with dermatologic manifestations, focusing on conditions frequently encountered in clinical practice. The session will begin with a concise overview of the pathophysiology of autoimmune responses affecting the skin, followed by a focused discussion on key conditions such as lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, pemphigus vulgaris, bullous pemphigoid, and psoriasis with autoimmune overlap. Participants will learn to recognize hallmark clinical features, interpret relevant diagnostic tests, and navigate the evolving landscape of systemic and topical immunomodulatory therapies. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based management strategies, patient-centered care, and practical tips for differentiating between similar-appearing conditions. By the end of the lecture, attendees will have strengthened their ability to identify autoimmune skin diseases early, initiate appropriate workups, and optimize treatment plans—enhancing outcomes for patients with complex dermatologic autoimmune disorders.
Objectives
- Understand the immunopathogenesis of autoimmune skin diseases in dermatology
- Identify clinical and histologic features of key dermatologic autoimmune conditions.
- Evaluate current treatment options, including biologics and immunosuppressants.
