Overview
Exploring evidence-based, non-pharmacologic strategies that complement or, in some cases, replace traditional medication-based approaches in the management of both acute and chronic conditions. From lifestyle interventions and behavioral therapies to integrative modalities and care coordination, we’ll examine practical tools clinicians can use to optimize patient outcomes. Special emphasis will be placed on strategies for conditions commonly seen in primary and emergency care, such as chronic pain, hypertension, anxiety, and migraine. Attendees will leave with actionable techniques to incorporate into practice and improve whole-person care.
Objectives
- Define and differentiate at least three types of non-pharmaceutical interventions explain their mechanisms of action in managing chronic or acute illness.
- Using case-based scenarios, apply at least two non-drug strategies to each of the top five acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in primary care.
- Evaluate the strength of evidence supporting the use of non-pharmacologic therapies in clinical practice.
