Overview
This session examines the foundational elements of business plan construction for nurse practitioners pursuing independent practice. Drawing from entrepreneurial frameworks and healthcare business models, participants will explore the essential components of a comprehensive practice plan, including organizational structure determination, market analysis methodology, operational workflow design, and financial projection development. Special attention will be given to the decision-making process surrounding value-based care program participation and the strategic allocation of consulting resources during the practice establishment phase. The session presents evidence-based approaches to practice viability assessment and sustainability planning within varying regulatory environments. Through structured analysis of practice models and their financial implications, participants will develop competency in translating clinical expertise into pragmatic business frameworks. This module serves as a critical component within the broader curriculum addressing independent practice development for advanced practice nurses.
Objectives
- Construct a comprehensive business plan framework incorporating the essential components of market analysis, operations design, and financial modeling specific to nurse practitioner-led practices.
- Evaluate value-based care program participation options using evidence-based assessment criteria to determine alignment with practice structure, capabilities, and financial objectives.
- Analyze the cost-benefit considerations of strategic consultant utilization during practice establishment, identifying high-impact areas for resource allocation versus self-directed components.
