Your well-being matters. Please take care while listening. In this third of five episodes on adolescent health, hosts Jessica Peck and Ashley Hodges draw on their 65 years of combined experience to tackle one of the most urgent topics facing today’s youth: suicidal ideation, gestures, attempts and death by suicide. Youth suicide has become a national crisis, with devastating impacts on families, communities, and healthcare systems. As one of the leading causes of death among adolescents, suicide presents a critical challenge for healthcare providers. This episode of the AANP Adolescent Series explores the growing prevalence of youth suicide, associated risk factors, warning signs, and the essential role of nurse practitioners in early identification, intervention, and prevention. Through clinical insight, real-world experiences, and practical tools, providers are equipped to navigate these complex conversations, reduce stigma, and connect at-risk youth with life-saving care.Be sure to check out previous episodes, Teen Dating Violence: Round Up on Adolescent Health PT1 (NP Pulse episode number 138) and Adolescent Mental Health (NP Pulse episode number 147) stay tuned for Episode 4 in this series on adolescent mental health scheduled for release in November 2025.
