Overview Practitioners are often faced with pediatric patient complaints which may or may not be of cardiac origin. Common complaints such as chest pain, palpitations, fainting and murmurs are sometimes difficult to unravel. This presentation will help the practitioner to focus on the physical findings and specific laboratory testing to determine how to diagnosis common cardiac issues in the ambulatory setting and when to refer to the specialist. Objectives
Discuss general health promotion for children with heart disease.
Identify physical findings of common congenital and acquired heart disease in infants and children.
Identify specific laboratory testing used to diagnose common cardiac issues.
Determine when to refer to a Cardiology specialist.
