Overview Medical Aesthetics is a rapidly expanding specialty, with an increasing demand for cosmetic procedures. As the industry evolves, so does the spread of misinformation and the rise in unlicensed providers offering treatments—often leaving patients confused or misinformed about skincare and non-invasive aesthetic procedures. In some cases, patients may even present with complications or adverse effects from poorly performed treatments. This session is designed to equip nurse practitioners with evidence-based knowledge on topical and procedural anti-aging treatments, enabling them to guide patients in making informed decisions. Attendees will also gain insights into recognizing and managing adverse outcomes from non-surgical aesthetic procedures, enhancing their ability to support patients who experience complications.
Objectives
- Identify 5 changes that happen to the face with age.
- Identify appropriate interventions to address these specific symptoms of aging.
- Understand adverse events that may occur from chemical peels, laser treatments, and or cosmetic injectables.
- Understand the risks and benefits of the discussed cosmetic treatments.
