Overview
Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a major cause of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the United States. Up to 40% of people living with T2D will develop CKD. In this two-part program, NP experts Drs. Kathryn Kreider and Timothy Ray will provide an overview of guideline-recommended treatments with you and help you overcome clinical inertia in the management of your patients with CKD and T2D. In the second part of the program you will have an opportunity to put your knowledge into practice by interacting with engaging case studies.
Objectives - Summarize the pathophysiologic changes underlying the development and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D).
- Devise a plan to overcome clinical inertia in the diagnosis, monitoring, and ongoing management of CKD in patients with T2D.
- Discuss the treatment benefits of guideline-recommended SGLT2 inhibitors, RAAS inhibitors, and nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists for people with T2D and CKD.
