Overview:
Nurse Practitioners Dr. Tulay Cakiner-Egilmez and Dr. Audrey Stevenson discuss the recognition of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in primary care and the role of the NP along with the recommended treatments and tips to engage patients in the management of their AMD.
This activity is an Accredited AANP Podcast Activity.
Learners will need to listen to the podcast through their preferred podcast provider (Search for "NP Pulse" and listen to Episode 105). A participation code will be given at the END of the podcast - make sure to write this code down. Once you've listened to the podcast and have the participation code, return to this activity in the CE Center. Click on the "Next Steps" button of the activity and (1) enter the participation code that was provided, (2) complete the post-test, and (3) complete the activity evaluation. This will award your CE credit and certificate of completion.
Objectives- Identify the risk factors associated with AMD.
- Discuss the referral pathway needed to optimize ophthalmology care for patients at risk for, or with symptoms suggestive of, AMD.
- Develop nonpharmacologic or pharmacologic treatment plans for patients with AMD.
- Incorporate shared decision-making when addressing barriers to treatment with patients with AMD.
