Overview Determining which diagnoses are time sensitive in primary care can often be challenging at the point of care. In this presentation, we will review the top emergent conditions seen in primary care. We will cover the assessment, evaluation and appropriate referral of these can’t miss diagnosis often seen in the primary care or urgent care setting.
Objectives
- Describe common and atypical presentations for patients presenting with emergency conditions.
- Execute the appropriate transfer mode (personal vehicle vs. EMS) of patients with a “can’t miss” condition.
- Review relevant pulmonary and cardiac anatomy.
- Differentiate emergent pulmonary and cardiac conditions from common medical conditions.
- Evaluate patients with focused questions and exam techniques.
